Florida Man To Adopt 260 Children
January 27, 2009: ORLANDO, FL: After over a year of operating a small orphanage in the Philippines, Gabriel German from Orlando has decided to look into another opportunity, at adopting 267 children.
“There will be many out there that will wonder how this man can afford to take care of so many children. I looked at this not as a problem but as an opportunity, if I didn’t, who would and that would be a tragedy”, said Gabriel German, a non denomination Minister and an International Business and Spiritual Consultant to CEO’s.
With the Filipino Peso hovering around 50 pesos to our one dollar, it makes it easy to step up and help. “Not only it is easy to help out but I wanted to give the kids a sense of being grounded for once in their lives. Most of the kids have moved many times within a year period from one orphanage to another, sometimes the move is more than a hundred miles apart. I wanted the kids to have a sense of a real family with a mother and a father they can look up to for anything that may come their way. A duo that they can truly trust and rely on!
With unemployment rates being sky high in most areas on the island of Mindanao, many Filipinos are out of work and many families can’t afford to feed and clothe their own children. According to reports, there are many children living in the streets. Many of the children are un-registered with the Filipino government and have no medical insurance or a place to stay and are starving. Some have never known a father or a mother.
“Tragedy sweeps the island all year long. From floods to landslides, to earthquakes to deadly disease, to high unemployment and on top of all that a strict Catholic upbringing with a no real sense of contraception, it is a terrible time on the island. I have run into many children on the streets that have not had a decent meal in days,” added German.
The Catholic Churches on the island of Mindanao have been in a major crisis of raising funds to support the deluge of kids that are coming into their doors. One Catholic Orphanage has had trouble raising donations from their own sponsors from other parts of the world and most kids are now at the brink of starving. German has decided to adopt the kids from this particular Catholic Orphanage with the help of another Catholic Church over 7 hours by bus away.
Rice prices are also high and large families of up to 12 abound on the island based on a non awareness towards contraception, these families simply have no jobs to support the entire family, so kids are left to fend for themselves.
“I felt it was my calling to step in and help raise a king size family,” Said Mr. German. “I myself was adopted out of an orphanage in Hawaii when I was three months old and was raised by two wonderful parents. While growing up in a military family I was blessed to see much of the world. I believe this is a “Pay it Forward”, time for me. These kids need me!” It so happened that I was in the right place and the right time with the Kong Mahal Orphanage that I began over a year ago,” added German.
“All I want for the children is for them to have something they can call their own. This is something they have not had a chance to see in their lives so far. I look at this as an opportunity. I have already lived many selfish lives, now at this particular time, I will live a new life that selfishness is not in the equation, added German.
